Andrea Urbani
I am a Cyber Security Advisor and Technology Executive with over 27
years of experience in open-source systems, network architecture,
and IT leadership. Active since 1996, I was one of the youngest
members of the Italian GNU/Linux community and have been deeply
involved in the evolution of open-source technologies ever since.
In parallel, I have also played an active role within the national
and international hacker and underground IT communities,
participating in and organizing technology events, fostering
knowledge exchange, and contributing to the global discourse on
security and digital rights.
I serve as one of the coordinators of the Italian Hacker Embassy, a
collective initiative that represents Italy’s hacker community in
international events. My contributions include organizing national
meetups, participating in European hacker camps, and regularly
speaking at security conferences. Additionally, I am involved in
academia and professional development, teaching in Executive Master
programs and leading workshops on cybersecurity, infrastructure,
and open-source innovation.
Throughout my career, I have led the design and implementation of
secure, scalable IT infrastructures, managed complex service
migrations, and coordinated emergency response teams in high-
pressure environments. My approach is grounded in leveraging
innovative technologies while maintaining the highest standards of
security, resilience, and availability. I specialize in cyber
defense, compliance, public cloud integration, and the governance
of open-source solutions. I am also passionate about knowledge
sharing, team leadership, and driving digital transformation across
both enterprise and public sector domains.
